TRAINING PLAN FOR L'ETAPE PORTUGAL

L'Étape Portugal by Tour de France, in partnership with coach Miguel Ganchinho, will provide an 8-week training plan, starting on 5 August 2024, which you can use as a basis for your specific preparation for this challenge. It will be available to all athletes from the beginning of August 2024.

It's important to be aware of your initial physical condition, to carry out a prior assessment, which will allow you to get to know yourself better, as well as to know your training rhythms/zones, in order to prepare as effectively as possible for this challenge.

For more individualised training or to clarify any doubts, you can contact the coach responsible for the plan at: miguelganchinho@streamplan.pt; www.instagram.com/miguel.ganchinho.

In your basic preparation to overcome this challenge, increase your endurance and your climbing performance by increasing the distance of your training sessions, as well as putting in more altimetry. Try to get to a level where at least twice a month you train for more than double figures or for more than 4 or 5 hours and once a month you do it on a route with some longer climbs, trying to reach at least 2,000 metres of accumulated climbing. That way, when you get to the start of the specific training plan, you'll already have the basic preparation to tackle it.
